Menopausal Climbers Social
Friday 06.10.2023, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Are you experiencing the ups and downs of menopause? Whether you’re in the early stages, middle, or post-menopause, you’re invited to join our social meetup at JAGS Climbing Wall in Dulwich.
Climbing is an excellent way for menopausal women to stay active, maintain their physical and mental health, and build new social connections.
As we climb the walls, we can also share our experiences with each other, discussing what has been helpful and what hasn’t during this period of our lives.
JAGS Climbing Walls offer roped climbing, auto-belay and bouldering. If you’re new to climbing, you will be getting an ‘Introduction to Bouldering’ (approx 10 mins) so you are able to use the bouldering walls safely. If you have experience climbing and belaying, you will need to pass a ‘Competency Test’ (approx 15 mins) before being able to use the walls. Both will be free of charge as part of this social event.
This event is free of charge, but you’ll have to pay an entry fee to JAGS (£8.50). You can also hire shoes and harnesses.

Questions and Answers
What does Bouldering, Auto-Belay, Roped Climbing mean?
- Bouldering is a type of indoor climbing that involves short, low-level routes without the use of ropes.
- Autobelay is a device that allows climbers to climb taller routes without a belayer.
- Roped climbing involves using a rope and a partner to climb higher routes, either through top-rope or lead climbing techniques.
I am worried, I’ll embarrass myself!
No need to worry. This is a group of supportive women, and the climbing wall is small and it’s likely we’ll have it all to ourselves. Yes, climbing can make you feel vulnerable and exposed, but remember, we are all in the same boat. And we’ll own it! Besides: Just the fact that you are part of it just shows how brave you are!
I have health conditions/disabilities
Please do message me, so we can talk it through and see if this activity is suitable for you. Climbing can be beneficial to a range of medical conditions and disabilities when practiced correctly.
I’ve never tried climbing!
We all started somewhere! As stated above you will get a short Introduction to Bouldering free of charge, which will enable to you use the bouldering part of the walls during the social. If you’d like to learn more, youre more than welcome to book onto one of my Taster Sessions or Learn How To Tope Rope Classes!
Can I also Lead Climb?
Yes, you can, but you’d need to bring your own quickdraws and rope, and pass the competency test!
